Sanguine   •  Sharon Havelka view larger image

Sanguine means to be optimistic or hopeful, especially in a difficult or gloomy situation. This quilt focuses
on materials that bleed into one another after oiling. I used Chinese and Indian silks sewn next to cotton.

Both the process and title are associated with the word exsanguination, meaning“to bleed out”.
