Bogong

In spring, Bogong moths emerge from the black soil regions of temperate eastern Australia. At night they fly long distances south to the high-altitude areas of the Great Dividing Range. They rest in the cool, moist mountain caves over the summer, living off their fat reserves. In autumn they migrate back north to breed.
Attracted by city lights, or perhaps blown off course, many are lost along the way.
